Apple supports eSIM on selected Wi-Fi + Cellular iPads. Learn supported generations, newer eSIM-only models and travel-data setup.
Only Wi-Fi + Cellular iPad models can use mobile plans. Apple supports eSIM on selected iPad Pro, Air, standard iPad and mini generations. Newer cellular models such as iPad Pro M4 and later, iPad Air M2 and later, iPad A16 and iPad mini A17 Pro are eSIM-only. iPad eSIM is primarily a data connection.

No eSIM plan can add a missing cellular modem. The model must be sold as Wi-Fi + Cellular.
